Title: What Are Your Chess Goals for 2010?
Post by: Jazzman99 on January 05, 2010, 06:18:13 AM
I think it's still early enough to talk about new year's chess resolutions.  Here's my first: I want to win a game in an actual tournament against somebody above the age of 15.   :)

Well, then stop playing in scholastic tournaments.  ;D Just kidding. Maybe setting up an annual tournament schedule would help. I know that your job limits your participation in tournaments, but playing in the Chicago Open (a seven-rounder) at the end of May and in the State Championships in October would make your goal easy to accomplish.  ;)

As for my own chess goals for 2010, I would like the following:

1. Get better at endgames,
2. play again this year in the Chicago Open and finish with a minimum score of 5.5 out of 7,
3. understand better the White side of the English in the Reversed Dragon set up.

I plan to play in at least three tournaments this year (Chicago Open [late May] and the IN State Championships [October] plus one or two more in between) and hope to raise my USCF rating at least 100 points. We'll see. ???
